About us

Seattle’s first purpose-built indoor pickleball center opens this August in Interbay with 20 courts, a café, and a pro shop. The Palms is a women-owned local business, and a community of play open to everyone — whether you’re trying pickleball for the first time or you’ve been playing for a decade.

We’re looking for warm, service-oriented people who are team players. Our Community team and Coaching team act as one Palms team working side by side to deliver a great experience to everyone who walks through our doors. Interested in doing both? Ask us about hybrid Coach/Community roles.

Roles

Coaches You design and run clinics, private and group lessons, leagues, and camps; set curriculum and progression; rate and place players by skill level; and mentor assistant coaches. You’re the person a member trusts to take them from their first dink to tournament-ready.

Assistant Coaches — You support and co-lead sessions, run drills, manage clinic logistics, and deliver beginner and intro instruction under the direction of our lead coaches. The right fit if you love the game and teaching it but are still building your skills and coaching résumé.

What You’ll Do (Both Roles)

  • Welcome players warmly and act as a knowledgeable host on and off the court
  • Deliver instruction that’s welcoming to first-timers and challenging for advanced players
  • Run new member orientations and skill evaluations — introduce players to the center, our programming, and where they fit
  • Assess and rate player skill levels (using DUPR and club ratings) to guide development, placement, and program recommendations
  • Drive sales — recommend and sell clinics, lessons, memberships, programming, and equipment that fit each player
  • Run clinics, lessons, open-play coaching, leagues, and camps through our booking platform
  • Support programming setup/breakdown, signage, and keeping courts game-ready
  • Attend coaching and all-staff meetings and coordinate closely with the Community team
  • Be the problem solver when something doesn’t go to plan
  • Help keep the facility safe, clean, and game-ready, including your teaching court
  • Follow and uphold club policies; represent The Palms professionally in how you show up, communicate, and follow through
  • Be on time for scheduled sessions and accurately log your hours and client sessions in our tracking system

Additional for Coach

In partnership with Palms Leadership:

  • Design curriculum and skill-progression frameworks across levels
  • Mentor and give feedback to assistant coaches
  • Help shape the programming calendar and clinic offerings

What You’ll Bring

Coach — Demonstrated coaching experience with a track record of player development; able to teach effectively across all levels, from never-held-a-paddle beginners through advanced/tournament players (DUPR 4.5+). A recognized certification (PPR, IPTPA) or equivalent expertise, strong playing ability, and current DUPR rating. The judgment to lead a session and mentor others.

Assistant Coach — A love of the game and a genuine interest in teaching it. Able to confidently coach beginner through intermediate players (roughly up to DUPR 3.75). Some coaching, instruction, or strong playing background; certification a plus, not required. Willingness to learn our curriculum and grow.

Both roles — A sales-minded, service-oriented presence; comfortable picking up new software (we’ll train you); reliable; current CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain before start); able to perform the essential physical aspects of the job, including lifting up to 50 lbs.

Pay and Benefits

  • Complimentary Core membership and additional perks, including court time
  • Opportunity to be sponsored by Selkirk
  • Commission based on level of experience and programming hours worked, hourly wage when applicable

Details

  • Location: 3435 15th Ave W, Seattle (Interbay). On-site parking; accessible by public transit, right on the D line.
  • Must be 18 or older. High school juniors and seniors — ask about our high school program for Junior Coaches
  • Background check required prior to start date.
